Genre: Action, Horror
Release Date: October 6, 2015
This was a big step up from the previous two instalments. The CGI has improved greatly and while not blockbuster level, it is quite good for the budget. They also did a good job at weaving in practical effects to balance things out. What I liked most was the turn to more horror and less cheese. That doesn’t mean it didn’t have some cheesy moments (It wouldn’t be a Tremors movie without cheese) or that is was truly scary, but it come across as more serious. The action was also substantially better than most of the series, though to be fair, action wasn’t a primary goal of some of the previous entries into the series. I know some haven’t liked the new monster designs, but I think they are far more frightening and while I might have made a few tweaks, they were far better that the monster designs before, particularly the Ass Blasters. I think only my nostalgia for the first movie is keeping it ahead of this in ranking.
