I am a huge fan of the Original Jurassic Park and like most fans was slightly disappointed with those sequels. When Jurassic World came out, I was very excited and just knew the series would redeem itself all those years later. I was happy with the first Jurassic World but upon a rewatch I think I might have been blinded by nostalgia and overrated it by a bit. Either way I was excited for this entry into the series to see where the story would go and, of course, to see more cool dinosaurs.
God was I disappointed. This is a B-movie. It is good looking and decently directed, but it is a B-movie nonetheless. It isn’t quite schlock, but it is damn close. The story is complete garbage. I am not one who usually gets caught up in plot holes, and pride myself on finding enjoyment in most movies, but this script is hot garbage. These guys are writing the next Star Wars! Lord help us all. I like my dino movies crazy and a tad unbelievable (after all genetically made dinos is unbelievable) but this was just awful.
Okay, enough about the script. The action was pretty good in most of the movie. I particularly liked the island sequences but unfortunately a lot of that was shown in the trailer. The Stygimoloch scenes were some of the best in the movie and when he is in the crowded room was probably the best part of the movie. I thought the characters were acted well considering what they were given, which wasn’t much.
Why do they feel the need to create a new dinosaur in every movie? They are just getting worse and worse each time and the new indorapter here was downright laughable. Real dinosaurs are awesome and scary enough. We don’t need new stupid ones.
All this said, I’m sure I will be seeing the next instalment in the theater.
Rewatchability: Only if binge watching the series, otherwise, none
